There are several different scenarios that would warrant the removal of a member on a joint account; however, the member being removed must be the one to sign away their ownership to the account in order to be removed.  When they do so, they remove all claims of ownership to any capital credits that have been accrued on the account, as well as any payment or credit history. If creating a new membership with us, all applicable startup fees will apply to the person who relinquished rights. If you are on a joint account and the other party is unable or unwilling to relinquish, the only option is to relinquish your own rights. You may then create a single membership in your own name.

Because of the legal nature of the relinquishment, the form must be notarized before being returned.  You can print the form below and return it in person or by mail.  If not returned in person, a copy of the relinquishing member's photo ID must accompany the form.

If you relinquish your rights to a membership, we recommend that you remove any stored payment method(s) belonging to you, as we are unable to determine ownership of stored card or bank account information. This can be done via SmartHub (web or app) or our automated phone system.
