Payment Assistance

There are several agencies in our area that may be able to provide assistance.  Please reach out to the agencies below to see what assistance you may be eligible for.

Palmetto Community Action Partnership (843) 724-6760 http://www.palmettocap.org/

  1. Appointments: 1-844-769-6448 (Appointments only on Fridays)
  2. Serves Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties
  3. Assists with:
    1. Utility Bill
    2. Rental ($300/month for 5 months, may increase based upon need)
    3. Childcare Fees
    4. New Hire Costs (first 2 weeks up to $600)  **Must provide New Hire Letter**
    5. Education Assistance (current and/or upcoming semester only)
    6. Certification Assistance  **Only for TTC certificates**

St. Vincent De Paul Helpline: (843) 469-5352

  1. Members east of Hwy 41 (Awendaw, McClellanville, & Huger)
  2. Assists with:
    1. Utility Bill

Salvation Army

  1. Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties: (843) 747-5271

  1. Serves those who live and/or work east of the Cooper River in Charleston/lower-Berkeley County
  2. Food Distribution Tues-Thurs 10am-2pm
  3. **Eligibility varies by program and some services are available to all Tri-County residents and beyond**

Help of Summerville (843) 871-0182

  1. Serves lower Dorchester County
  2. Financial assistance up to $200 with few exclusions such as telephone bill, hotels, etc. **By referral only**

  1. Serves James Island, Johns Island & Wadmalaw Island (M-Th 10am-1:30pm)
  2. Assists with:
    1. Food
    2. Utility (once every 12 months)
    3. Rental (once every 12 months)
    4. Filing government assistance (Unemployment, SNAP, etc.)
    5. Bag lunches (Downtown Chas.)
    6. Free OBGYN services resume end of June (Johns Island)
    7. Free dental services resume in July (Johns Island)
